Activity 2

Circuits

  1. Create circuits with 1, 2, and 3 resistors (330 Ohm) in serial. Use the multimeter to measure the current and voltage of each of the wires in each of the circuits. Write down the results. What pattern is there in the results?

  2. Use the LED datasheet to find the suggested current range for an LED. Use Ohm’s law, V = I * R, to calculate the current of a circuit with 1 LED and no resistors. Assume that the LED has no resistance. Use Ohm’s law to calculate the resistance needed to create a circuit with current in the suggested range for the LED.

  3. Create circuits with 1, 2, and 3 LEDs in serial (also include one 330 Ohm resistor). Use the multimeter to measure the current and voltage of each of the wires in each of the circuits. Write down the results. What pattern is there in the results?

  4. Create a circuit and program that will light an LED dimly by blinking the LED at a very fast rate. Note the LED will need to be lit and unlit for different durations to get the LED to dim.
