For the final project you will work in groups to create web site for a business or organization and use A/B testing to evaluate an aspect of the site’s design.
Site
The site:
- can be for a business or a non-profit organization
- must have an interesting goal
- should fulfill a need
The site will be peer evaluated for 50% of the project grade according to the following criteria:
- Easy to Navigate (interactive elements are clearly clickable, user interaction reveals content to simplify interface)
- Well Organized (chunking, content easy to find)
- Aesthetically Pleasing (color theme, large images, clear text)
- Mobile Friendly (site has all of the above on desktops and mobile devices, no horizontal scrolling on mobile devices)
Testing
You must conduct a simple A/B test on a design element of your site. The test:
- should be designed to improve the site’s purpose
- must be evaluated using PHP to log user interaction
- have 20 test subjects
Presentation
As a group present, the site and the results of the A/B testing. The presentation should include:
- a demonstration of the site’s content and features
- an explanation of any interesting or difficult parts of the site’s implementation or coding
- an summary of the A/B test
- the A/B test data using slides
- an analysis of the A/B test data
The presentation will be evaluated for 50% of the project grade according to the Roanoke College Oral Communications Rubric.
