The main topics covered in the camp were creating Web pages using HTML
and enhancing Web pages with Java applets.
The camp involved some lectures in class and extensive laboratory
exercises. In the laboratory exercises, participants created their
own Web pages, and wrote their own Java applets.
Participants were also given a tutorial on scanning images, and using
Adobe Photoshop to manipulate images for displaying in their Web pages.
Participants learnt about the various markup tags in HTML, including making tables and including images in their pages. Participants also learnt about inline image maps.
Extensive tutorials led the participants through creating their own
applets. Along the way several features of object oriented
programming, and of Java in particular, were introduced and reinforced
through laboratory exercises.
On one of the days, participants got a tour of the computing facilities at Roanoke College.
