For the midterm presentation, select a fictional robot from literature, film, television, comics, or video games and present an ethical issue raised by a robot’s decision in the story.
Presentation
The presentation should include:
a description of any background needed to understand the decision made by your robot including the setting, characters, and story.
an explanation of the robot’s ethical position.
a description of how and why the robot applied its ethical position to the decision.
an evaluation of the robot’s ethical position that uses the ethical theories we have studied.
The presentation itself should:
- be no more than 7 minutes
- have slides
Look at this list of fictional robots if you need help coming up with a robot that will be fun to present.
Peer Evaluation
We will do partnered peer evaluations of presentations during class on Monday, March 22nd.
Evaluation
Your presentation will be evaluated according to the class [delivery rubric], [visual aids rubric], and the [ethical reasoning rubric].
Submission
Please submit your presentation slides on the course Inquire page before class on the day scheduled for your presentation, either March 24th, March 26th, or March 29th. Refer to the [presentation schedule] for the day you will be presenting.
