For the midterm presentation, select a fictional robot from literature, film, television, comics, or video games and present an ethical issue raised by a decision made by a robot in the story.
Presentation
The presentation should include:
a description of any background needed to understand the decision made by your robot including the setting, characters, and story.
a description the ethical issue raised by the robot’s decision.
explanations of different positions on whether the decision was ethical or not.
evaluations of the ethical positions.
The presentation itself should:
- be no more than 8 minutes
- have slides
Look at this list of fictional robots if you need help coming up with a robot that will be fun to research present.
Peer Evaluation
We will do partnered peer evaluations of presentations during class on Friday, February 24th. You must have a presentation, with slides, that you have practiced, ready for class on this day. Before delivering your presentation in-class the following week, you must write a reflection on the feedback you recieved from your peer evaluation and how you plan on improving your presentation based on the feedback.
Evaluation
Your presentation will be evaluated according to the oral presentation rubric we created during class.
