Test Format
- Test format is similar to quizzes
- Reading questions - given code, what does it print or do?
- Writing questions - given lines of code, select and put them in order
- Questions will be more difficult than quizzes
- Quizzes were designed to test if you did and understood the reading
- Test questions are designed to test if you did and uderstood the in-class activities and assignments
- Studying for these types of test is different than for many other classes
- There is nothing memorize; you don’t need to ‘read over’ your notes
Instead, study by doing:
- Redo the quizzes
- Redo in-class activities
- Redo homework problems
- Do extra in-class activity problems
- Do in-class activity challenges
- Do extra homework problems
- Read any chapters of the book you haven’t already
- Reread any chapters of the book that are challenging
- Make an appointment to see me to answer any questions you have
Practice Test
- Once you feel ready for the test, relax
- The test test of a class is always the hardest because you don’t know what to expect
- I want to reduce this first test anxiety so everyone can perform their best
- Note that the first test is worth less in the final grade calculation (5% vs 10%, 15%, and 20% for the other tests)
- To give you an even better idea of the test we will do a practice test before the activity
